Capitol Corridor Gears Up For Football Season

Football season

While it may seem as though summer just got started, fall and football season are right around the corner, and Capitol Corridor is here to get you to the action. The San Francisco 49ers will kick off their home schedule with their first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, August 23 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Capitol Corridor is one of the best and easiest ways to travel to the game, and with a fully-stocked café car, you can start your tailgate early! Click here to plan your game-day trip.

Football fans can also take Capitol Corridor to the Oakland Coliseum for the Raiders’ second preseason home game versus the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday August 30, as well as the Cal Bears’ first home game against Grambling State on Saturday, September 5 at Memorial Stadium, which can be accessed by connecting to BART at the Richmond or Oakland Coliseum stations.

Labor Day Service Information

Labor Day 2015

If travel is part of your plan over the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend, keep in mind that Capitol Corridor will be operating on a weekend/holiday schedule on Monday, September 7. Also, as a reminder, BART will not be running transbay service to San Francisco during the three-day holiday weekend, September 5-7, so Capitol Corridor passengers will not be able to use BART to travel between the Richmond or Coliseum stations and San Francisco or other west bay destinations. Capitol Corridor bus service from Emeryville will be running; however, passengers may experience delays due to expected heavy traffic over the Bay Bridge.

Plan a Labor Day Getaway to Gold Rush Days in Old Sacramento

Gold Rush Days

Looking for some family fun over the upcoming Labor Day weekend? Why not consider going back in time to experience Gold Rush Days,an annual four-day festival in Old Sacramento. With BART not running service between the East Bay and San Francisco, this is a great way to avoid the inevitable Bay Area traffic jams! During Gold Rush Days, the historic district of Sacramento will be transformed into a mid-19th century mining town for this popular, family-friendly event, which will include gold-panning, live music and entertainment, and a delicious assortment of food and spirits.

For fun and hassle-free travel to the event, take Capitol Corridor to the Sacramento station, which is just steps from Old Sacramento. Even better, you can take the whole family along for just $5 per person, each way with the advance purchase of one full-fare ticket through Capitol Corridor’s “Take 5” offer.
