On Monday, July 28, 2014, Capitol Corridor will implement a new schedule affecting weekend train service, as well as some connecting bus routes. Highlights include:

  • Rescheduling morning and afternoon/evening trains to accommodate passengers attending events at the new Levi’s Stadium (Santa Clara/Great America Station).
  • New direct train service every day between Placer County (Auburn, Rocklin, Roseville) and San Jose.
  • Reopening of the downtown San Francisco Financial District/Hyatt connecting bus stop.
  • More efficient connecting bus service from San Francisco to Emeryville for Train 542 connections.

“This new schedule is particularly exciting because we’ve been able to align trains to meet the demand for service to and from events at Levi’s Stadium,” said James Spering, Chair of the Board of the Capitol Corridor. “The stadium is an easy five-minute walk from the Santa Clara/Great America Station, making it a remarkably convenient option for passengers attending events from the East Bay or the Sacramento area.”

Capitol Corridor makes over a dozen trips between Sacramento and Silicon Valley each day, including weekends, so passengers will have flexibility in choosing when they arrive at the stadium. For Sunday afternoon football games starting at 1:00 or 1:25 p.m., for example, there are three trains from Sacramento that arrive in Santa Clara before kickoff, and for later afternoon games, trains depart the Santa Clara/Great America Station as late as 9:24 p.m.

To assist passengers with directions on how to make the easy walk from the train station to the stadium, Capitol Corridor has posted a special page on its website, How to Get to Levi’s Stadium in 5 Easy Steps.

Information about the new schedule effective July 28, as well as a link to the actual timetable, can also be found on the Capitol Corridor website.
